Top Chef Canada All Stars: Vancouver Spotlight

Canada’s most prestigious and high-stakes culinary competition is back with Top Chef Canada: All-Stars, and we have some Vancouverites to cheer on!

For the first time in Canadian franchise history, Top Chef Canada brings some of the country’s most accomplished chefs from past seasons to battle it out for a chance to earn what has eluded them all: the title of Canada’s Top Chef. The twelve chefs will compete in cutthroat challenges and receive bold critiques from the judging panel: host Eden Grinshpan, head judge chef Mark McEwan and esteemed resident judges Chris Nuttall Smith, Janet Zuccarini, and Vancouver’s Mijune Pak (Follow Me Foodie).

Competing from Vancouver are Trevor Bird and Curtis Luk, both Top Chef Canada Season 2 alum. The friends and former colleagues are currently chef-owners of neighbouring restaurants on West 4th in Kitsilano.

As chef/co-owner at Fable, Trevor practices his passion for locally focused ingredients and showcases British Columbia’s regional bounty in all of the menu’s dishes. More recently, he’s also opened Fable Diner and is the co-founder of MeatMe.Co, which is devoted to crowdfunding well-raised pasture animals. After helping Trevor open Fable, Curtis went on to lead the kitchens at The Parker and Bambudda, and today weaves together seasonal and local ingredients with thought and technique as chef/owner of Mission Restaurant.

Throughout the competition, the chefs serve up dishes for acclaimed culinary guest judges including Chopped Canada judges Lynn Crawford, John Higgins, Susur Lee and Antonio Park, television personality, cookbook author and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich, culinary superstar chef/restaurateur Daniel Boulud, and Big Gay Ice Cream owner Doug Quint. The winner will take home a grand prize of $100,000 and a Monogram kitchen worth over $25,000.

Top Chef Canada: All-Stars premieres Sunday, April 2, 2017. Watch full episodes online at Food Network Canada, and follow along using #TopChefCanada on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
