Richmond’s House of Dawn has launched a set menu w Richmond’s House of Dawn has launched a set menu worthy of an extended lunch hour. Chef James Yang’s steakhouse in an unassuming shopping plaza has quietly become one of the most upscale dining rooms in Richmond, and the new three-course prix-fixe lunch menu is the latest reason to make a reservation.

Available daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the $70 menu opens with your choice of Burrata from Puglia, Wagyu Tartare, Foie Gras Parfait, or Lobster Bisque with a half butter-poached tail. Mains range from an Iberico Tomahawk to Asian-spiced Ora King Salmon to a Summer Corn Risotto. A classic Crème Brûlée to close things out.

It’s a proper unrushed sit-down lunch in a room that takes its craft seriously.

Vancouver is gearing up for FIFA World Cup 2026 an Vancouver is gearing up for FIFA World Cup 2026 and Science World is at the centre of it all, quite literally! ⚽️

Starting with the dome itself: Science World is being transformed into “The Beautiful Dome,” a 360-degree recreation of the adidas Trionda, the official FIFA World Cup 2026 match ball. Made up of 131 custom-shaped panels across a 40-metre diameter, the installation is anticipated to be complete in early June and will be one of the defining visual landmarks of the tournament in Vancouver.

Inside, Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum is now open through September 7, 2026, offering a deep dive into the innovations that power the modern game across five sections: Broadcasting and Media, Intelligent Data, Refereeing and Fair Play, Staging the Game, and an Innovation Lab.

From the first camera to broadcast a World Cup match in 1954 to today’s drone footage and connected ball technology, the exhibition traces how innovation has shaped the way soccer is played, officiated, and experienced, without ever replacing the human skill and emotion at its heart.

Highlights include the field-side VAR monitor used at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, the adidas Trionda match ball fitted with its FIFA World Cup 2026 motion sensor, and objects from Canada’s recent football history, including Christine Sinclair’s jersey from Canada’s Olympic gold-medal win, the match ball from Canada vs. Croatia at Qatar 2022, and Atiba Hutchinson’s captain’s jersey.

Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change is now open at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

This landmark exhibition brings together 30+ artists and 35+ works, from monumental installations to living sculptures, asking one urgent question: How do we face ecological change with anything other than despair?

Four thematic chapters guide the experience:

Living Knowledge: geological pasts, Indigenous land care, and environmental activism

Consumed Earth: extraction, extinction, and the communities left behind

Speculative Worlds: sci-fi futures, rising tides, and post-human imaginings

Material Memory: healing, recycled materials, and the weight of what we consume

The exhibition takes its name from Clarissa Tossin’s Future Geography: Cosmic Cliffs (2023), weaving NASA star imagery with discarded Amazon boxes — the cosmic alongside the everyday.

Highlights include: John Akomfrah’s ocean meditation Vertigo Sea, Brian Jungen’s whale skeleton built from plastic patio chairs, and a new Jeffrey Gibson sculpture made for the show.

Don’t miss: SANCTUARY on the 4th floor offers a 360° journey into BC’s ancient forests inside a geodesic dome (framed within a life-sized buildout of an ancient tree!)

Throughout the exhibition, videos produced by 40+ UBC undergraduate students, working across disciplines under the VAG’s Eva Respini and Dr. Sara Harris of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, respond to individual artworks and bring scientific context to the environmental issues explored in each section.

This week, we were among the first in North Americ This week, we were among the first in North America to step inside the new @maybachluxury shop-in-shop at @eyesonoptical, a dedicated retail space that marks the brand’s first presence of its kind on the continent.

Wolfgang Thelen, CEO and Owner of Maybach Icons of Luxury, was on hand to mark the occasion. The space brings together a curated edit of luxury apparel, eyewear, and accessories, a natural extension of the Maybach legacy, housed in one of Vancouver’s most respected luxury eyewear destinations.

The eyewear feels especially lux: handcrafted in Germany using premium sustainable materials. Their signature frames combine ultra-light titanium, often plated in 18k or 22k gold, rose gold, or platinum, with sustainably sourced natural buffalo horn, fine woods, carbon fiber, and leather. ✨

Transported to Puglia for an evening to celebrate Transported to Puglia for an evening to celebrate the summer days ahead with the arrival of Calafuria Rosé, a wine that tastes like a warm sunrise over the Adriatic. The bright peachy-pink colour, made from the Negroamaro grape grown in the heel of Italy’s boot, feels like bottled Apulian sun.

On the nose: juicy grapefruit and pomegranate with a whisper of lavender; delicate, floral, unmistakably Mediterranean.
