Local film backlot transforms into Martini Town winter wonderland for the holidays

Movie fans can get a taste of Tinseltown for the holidays at Martini Town, a picture-perfect film set in Langley owned by Martini Film Studios. Visitors to Merry & Bright, running December 1 through January 1, will have a rare opportunity to access a Hollywood-style film backlot, transformed into a holiday wonderland.

Martini Town, located on a 16-acre outdoor site, boasts building facades and filming streetscape that are unique to the region, making it a hugely popular location for filming television shows and movies. There is an entire small town, a New York-themed Brownstone Street, a movie theatre with a lit marquee, a coffee shop, an urban alley, a courthouse, a diner, a town square and much more to feed film fantasies.

Put yourself in a Hollywood holiday film by visiting the festive displays, enjoying live music, browsing an artisan market, noshing at food trucks – and even visiting with Santa.

All Merry & Bright event staff are from the film industry, which gives visitors another behind-the-scenes opportunity to engage with an industry that helps power the local economy. Visitors are welcome to ask staff wearing “I Work in Film” pins about their roles in BC film.

Merry & Bright will be powered using only clean energy, just one of the reasons Martini Film Studios was named a BC Hydro Clean Energy Champion earlier this year.

Pair your visit to Merry & Bright with a spot-the-set viewing of some of these new Martini Town-filmed movies, as it’s a popular filming location for holiday movies produced by the Hallmark Channel, broadcast on the W Network in Canada. Upcoming movies filmed at Martini Town that will be airing this season on the W Network include Sealed with a List on December 16, and Friends & Family Christmas on December 17.
