Health and fitness sneaks its way into every conversation somehow. There’s no bad time to kickstart or ramp up your workout regiment. In a city as active as ours, it’s easy to try out a new class around town or join a free (or dirt cheap) meetup – a great way to find out what works for you (and more importantly, what you’ll stick with!) We’ve rounded up these opportunities for you so there are absolutely no excuses to get out and move. RUNNING

MEC
Vancouver & North Vancouver
Free meet-ups for all levels on Wednesday evenings, and early morning on the weekends. Check their events calendar for the full schedule.

Lululemon
Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, West Van, Coquitlam
Robson store does a #RunRobson on Wednesdays at 5:45 pm, West 4th location has a Kits Run Crew on Wednesdays at 6pm, Oakridge has a Run Club on Wednesdays at 6pm.

CROSSFIT

CrossFit Pacific Central

Free trial classes for private CrossFit and Beginniner’s CrossFit class.

Your first class is free. They also offer towel service, filtered water, complimentary use of spin shoes and fresh fruit.

YOGA

Karma Teachers
45 West Hastings, Vancouver
Free or by donation yoga and mediation classes throughout the week. Hosted by a group of yoga teachers committed to selfless action and giving back to community.

Unity Yoga
2nd Floor, 1672 East 10th Avenue, Vancouver
On Saturday afternoon, enjoy some good karma and take a free class in exchange for a non-perishable donation for the Vancouver Food Bank.

YYoga
Various locations
They have by-donation classes that support local causes. Downtown Flow, West Sixth, Kitsilano, Highgate, Yaletown and Northshore Elements have participated in the past. Check their site for details.

Yaletown Roundhouse Karma Yoga
These are $5/drop-in on the Saturdays and Sundays typically.

UBC Yoga Club
Membership for the general public is $20, but afterwards your classes are only $2/session.

Free pass for 7 days that’s valid for all 21 locations. They have over 750 group fitness classes weekly.

Complimentary 3-day pass to all locations.
