FAÇADE FESTIVAL 2016 will provide Vancouver with an interactive approach to place-making and visual art in the public realm. An immersive and dynamic projection mapping experience, Façade is set to transform the Robson Street face of the Vancouver Art Gallery with the work of five Vancouver-based contemporary artists from August 30th to September 5th, 2016.This public art project will feature newly commissioned works by Eric Metcalfe, Barry Doupé, Rebecca Chaperon, Renée Van Halm, and Chris Shier and is organized by the Burrard Arts Foundation (BAF) in partnership with Microsoftand in collaboration with the Vancouver Art Gallery. In addition, technical mentorship was provided by projection mapping specialists, Go2 Productions.Projections will take place beginning at sunset from August 30th until September 5th. Each artist will have a dedicated night from August 30th to September 3rd and on September 4th there will be an encore presentation of all five artists’ works. The Grand Finale event will take place on the evening of September 5th, kicking off at 8pm with a special projection-mapping presentation by Go2 Productions featuring the work of award-winning cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg. This special presentation will be shown again at 10:30pm. An encore of all artists’ works will be shown as well throughout the final evening.
