Vancouverites know how good our food scene is here, and are always happy to share. Now, one of our city’s most acclaimed restaurants is taking that one further. This week, The Acorn drops into New York City for a special 5-night pop-up restaurant.
From February 3rd to 7th, Vancouver’s The Acorn (enRoute Magazine’s Top 10 New Restaurants in Canada, 2013) will take over the Exhibit C space in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. They will serve a single-seating 5-course vegan tasting menu, with optional wine pairing curated and presented by Kurtis Kolt, one of Vancouver’s top sommeliers.
Our local stomping grounds (wine puns, yes!) will be well represented in the glass, too. From the event website:
The optional wine pairing to each evening’s dinner will feature a flight of critically-acclaimed, boutique wines from British Columbia. With a combination of northern proximity which preserves natural acidity, a mineral-rich soil thanks to ancient glacier deposit, and an array of micro-climates from cool lake country to Canada’s only desert (yes, really!), British Columbia provides charismatic and honest wines of integrity. We look forward to sharing wines from Tantalus Vineyards, Le Vieux Pin, Meyer Family Vineyards, Laughing Stock Vineyards, and Mission Hill Family Estate.
Full circle move: this NYC sojourn will make an appearance with a one-night reprisal in Vancouver on March 6th. Stay tuned for more details on The Acorn’s website.
