Twilight Drive-In Theatre

On the DL Tip: Twilight Drive-In

We recently made our way to the Twilight Drive-In Theatre in Langley. They show first-run/current films, with the early show being most family-friendly for the little ones (the line-up on our visit: Minions, Jurassic World, Furious 7). As first-timers, we had many takeaways to make the next time a far better experience, and thought we’d share those learnings so you can be prepared for your first visit!

Seating. Bring your own lawn chair, hatchback car, station wagon, SUV, flatbed truck.
Warmth. Bring blankets, duvets, sleeping bags, etc.
Clothing. Wear comfy clothes, and layer up as the night cools down. Sweatpants, onesies, and jammies are all popular choices (all the kids we spotted were in PJs – we’ve heard some kids nap through the second and third shows).
Food. Be respectful, don’t bring your own food. Ticket prices are reasonable, and the theatre counts on concession sales to stay in business. From what we ate: popcorn is movie theatre standard, the burger was good, the fries were really good, and the gravy was fine as well (but the fries are good enough on their own and really don’t need it). Fountain drinks are giant – plan on many washroom trips.
Washrooms. That said, the washrooms are clean and functional.
Timing. Get there early for your pick of parking spot, then to pass the time, bring a frisbee, football, maybe even a bocce set if you’re feeling ambitious.
Sound. You can save your car battery and bring a portable radio.
Admission. Your ticket price allows you to stay for all screenings that night – if you’re game to catch them all, just plan to get home LATE. No in and out privileges, so make your decision and stick with it.
Prepare for the long haul. Because, let’s be honest, unless you live in Langley, it is FAR. We are talking run to the border far. So embrace the fun but long night, and have a great time at the drive-in!

  1. Hey! They don’t rent radios anymore, you should take this off your article probably since they have it in BOLD that they don’t rent them, maybe lots of people read this and ask them. Just a thought, cheers!
