Merging Time is a photography series produced by Langara College’s Professional Photography students. This compelling project, featuring creatively fused images of old and modern Vancouver, has generated a lot of interest over the past four years.
Having chosen a historical image from the City of Vancouver Archives collection, the students returned to the original location to capture a new image in our current time. The resulting frame was digitally combined with the historic version to create a Vancouver that has recognizable features and nostalgia of by-gone times. Our city is shown as it was and now is, as progress will inexorably continue to change Vancouver’s face.
The 2014 class project set may be viewed here. For more, you can check out the 2013 set on the Langara site, which features an interactive map that plots the location where the pair of images were taken.
