Pazzo Chow is an Italian retail & eatery owned and operated by Sugo Sauce proprietor Maya Sciarretta. On the outside, you’ll be instantly charmed by the striped awning on the quaint storefront. Inside, expect to be met by a changing menu of healthy yet simple dishes inspired by Maya’s upbringing.
As a diehard local, Maya grew up on a palate influenced both by her Italian parents as well as the abundant fresh produce and spices available in Chinatown. An Emily Carr graduate, Maya decided to combine her education in photography and design with her love for cooking and meeting new people. So when she met Ashley Watson, a girl with a dream of ice cream, she invited her to share the Chinatown space to house Watson’s Brown Paper Packages frozen desserts business. And so began the story of when mad eats (pazzo means ‘crazy’ in Italian) met cool treats.
Follow Pazzo Chow’s Instagram for daily specials, and when you stop in, peruse the full line of Sciarretta’s signature house-made Italian sauces, and artisanal ice cream by Brown Paper Packages. Tip: you’ll also want to keep your eye out for announcements of their occasional family-style dinner events held in the back room.
