Fall into familly fun at Metropolis at Metrotown

The leaves have turned, and all things pumpkin spice are in full effect. It’s time to embrace all the season has to offer, and including enjoying the great indoors at BC’s largest shopping centre! With festive displays, exciting contests and more here are 6 fun ways to get into fall spirits at Metropolis at Metrotown this season:

  1. Escape from a haunted house.  Throughout the month of October (October 1st – 30th), Ghost Hunt: Hauntington Manor, produced by Bamboozled Escape Games, invites groups of two to eight players to enter a dimly lit mansion, armed with a ghostbustin’ laser, to solve puzzles and complete action-based tasks to save the manor’s lost souls. This 25-minute experience is designed for adults; while there is no gore, the startling and spooky atmosphere requires that children 7 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult (ages 19+); youth ages 13 and older can participate on their own. Cost: $20 for adults and $15 for kids aged 7-12 (inclusive of GST). Reservations are encouraged and can be booked online.
  2. Attend a pumpkin-carving palooza. On October 12th from 11am – 5pm, witness a parade of expertly carved jack-o-lanterns by master pumpkin carver Michael Valeroso in the Grand Court – a perfect backdrop for Halloween photos.
  3. Watch a pie-eating contest. On October 19th, don your stretchy pants and head over to the Met’s Grand Court for a good old-fashioned pie-eating contest, sponsored by The Pie Hole. Two contests will determine who can scarf down the most dessert, with the winners earning a $300 Metropolis at Metrotown gift card. The Pie Hole will host a pop-up shop from 11am-3pm (or until pies sell out) with pie-eating contests at 1pm and 2pm.
  4. Glam up for Halloween. From October 18 to 19th, Halloween beauty workshops, hosted by MAC, will showcase three haunting Halloween looks to elevate your makeup for the holiday. The Halloween beauty demos will take place on the ground level outside of Bath & Body Works on Friday, October 18th at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm; and Saturday, October 19th at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Bonus: Shoppers who pre-book a one-on-one in-store service to achieve their Halloween glam look ($45, plus tax) will receive 20% off all products purchased.
  5. Marvel at magical displays. Transformed into a breezy tableau with plenty of picture-perfect photo backdrops, Metropolis at Metrotown’s fall décor this year is anchored by a Grand Court display of giant pumpkins stacked 34 feet high, with mice, giant leaves, and grass vines intertwined throughout.
  6. Get into Halloween spirits. Pop by Metropolis at Metrotown on Halloween for a full day of trick-or-treating at retail stores throughout the shopping centre. Between 1pm-5pm on October 31st, kiddos can see a balloon twister demonstration, get their faces painted by Kidoodles Art Studio, or pose in their Halloween costumes at the Photo Crumb photo booth.
