SUMMARY:Speaker Series: Who We Are
DESCRIPTION:From patrolling the scenic stretches of Stanley park to managing Vancouver’s most formidable historic crowds at the 1994 and 2011 Stanley Cup Riots. What does it take to work where others may hesitate to go? \nFor over 100 years\, mounted officers have played a key role in the Vancouver Police Department’s evolving approach to public safety. Blending traditional beat patrol with modern public relations\, a horse in the right place can be more effective in controlling a crowd than 10 human police officers. \nJoin museum staff for a special evening with the Officers who care for\, train and ride these extraordinary horses. Learn about the trust needed\, and the ways Officers like Sergeant Van Dyk take a prey animal and teach them to be fearless partners. \nBring your curiosity and your questions\, and meet the dedicated professionals behind the Vancouver Police Department’s Mounted Unit. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Between Blade & Bullet: A Discussion with Margaret Franz
