DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lively evening of storytelling to celebrate Chinese Canadians in Canada’s national obsession\, hockey! Author Chad Soon will launch his co-authored children’s book\, The Longest Shot: How Larry Kwong Changed the Face of Hockey\, and share Kwong’s fascinating story as the first player of Asian descent in the NHL in 1948. \nWe’ll hear the stories of young Chinese Canadian players going pro\, from former professional player Brandon Wong\, and documentary filmmaker Jenny Lee-Gilmore will share a heartfelt tribute to her hockey-playing mother\, Kelley\, as she competes for Team BC at the Canada 55 Plus Games. \nWe are excited to have special guest Samantha Chang from “The Broadcast\,” who will moderate this event. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:Light Up Chinatown! presented by RBC returns for its third year. The free two-day community festival will bring the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown to life with live music\, cultural performances\, and inventive food collaborations. For families\, there will be a dedicated kids’ fun zone\, and for the adults\, for the first time\, Light Up Chinatown! will be fully licensed\, allowing people 19+ with a valid ID to enjoy beer\, wine and spirits inside the festival grounds. Local merchants will offer exclusive discounts across the neighbourhood.
