A roving\, space-themed soirée will wind its way through the shopping centre\, stopping at various locations so shoppers can join the action. A mobile DJ keeps the music pulsing\, while astronauts and aliens hand out prizes as they dance to the beats. \nOn July 26 and 27 from 12pm – 3pm\, wander among the stars at Starlab\, a collaboration with H.R. The glamping site will be closed on April 30 and May 10. \nFrom April 18 until May 19\, step into nature… indoors. Crafted by the creative minds at local design studio Lazy Wizard\, the Grand Court’s enchanting glampsite features a mountains-and-forest tableau with a whimsical hot air balloon suspended above. Enter through an inflatable tree and wander amid light-festooned trees and a charming campground. \nOn May 10 from 12 – 2pm\, encourage Mom to let loose at a party in her honour. Mothers work hard every day of the year – on Saturday\, May 10\, they can play! With a myriad of live performances\, fun workshops\, and traditional displays\, this is a celebration you won’t want to miss! \nFrom February 9-24\, treat yourself and your loved ones to a day of shopping. Spend a lucky $288\, and receive a $25 gift card and gift under the cherry blossom tree in the Grand Court. Pick a red pocket before you head home and inside you’ll find the gift card\, a retail voucher\, along with a memento celebrating the Year of the Dragon. For every red pocket received\, Metropolis at Metrotown will also donate $5 to Angels on Earth Society. The Burnaby-based charity provides culture education to students at no cost. \nFor those who want to experience traditional displays of Lunar New Year celebrations\, join us on February 14 for a lively Lion Dance performance held in the Grand Court at 10am. Follow the lion as it parades throughout the shopping centre to bring good luck and prosperity! \nOn February 16 from 12-2pm\, visitors can experience a live concert in the Grand Court featuring the guzheng – a traditional Chinese instrument. Plenty of photo opportunities will be available with the Lucky Buddha as he hands out red envelopes. \nIt’s never a celebration without delicious food. Metropolis at Metrotown will hold culinary workshops on February 17 throughout the day (11am\, 12:30pm\, 2pm and 3:30pm). Learn how to prepare traditional Lunar New Year meals like lucky long-life noodles. On February 24\, watch a dumpling eating contest\, dance to traditional and K-pop music\, and learn how to lion dance. If you’re still hungry after dancing\, Metropolis at Metrotown is home to over 70 eateries with flavours from around the world. \nAn additional craft workshop will be available on February 23 from 12pm – 2pm\, where visitors can learn from three traditional artisans – a Chinese dragon artisan\, a Chinese gold phoenix artisan\, and a Chinese lantern artisan. \nLunar New Year celebrations at Metropolis at Metrotown begin February 9 and run until February 24\, 2024.
