SUMMARY:Wildwoman
DESCRIPTION:In Wildwoman\, we follow the story of Catherine de Medici\, the young\, newlywed of King Henry II of France\, who thinks her life at court will be a fascinating forum of political discourse. Instead\, the palace is a cruel and disturbing place where her singular function is to be a baby-making machine for male heirs. Even the other women at her side\, a scheming lady-in-waiting and the king’s power-hungry mistress\, seem to mostly fend for themselves. The only kinship she finds is with the paperback-romance hot\, head-to-toe hair wildman kept in the dungeon as one of the king’s collection of caged oddities. The power and cruelty of the French Royal Court awakens Catherine’s own wild side\, and once she unleashes it\, no one is safe from her vengeful wrath.

SUMMARY:The Polygon Gallery: Tania Willard: Photolithics
DESCRIPTION:The Polygon Gallery presents Tania Willard: Photolithics from March 7–May 24\, 2026. The exhibition is Willard’s first since winning the 2025 Sobey Art Award — Canada’s biggest contemporary art prize — and is her largest solo show to date. Photolithics\, a portmanteau of ancient words for “light” and “stone\,” highlights Willard’s evolving photographic practice\, in which the sun and the land play a vital role beyond the surveillance or spectacle of nature. For The Polygon\, she devises a distinctive treatment for the gallery’s windows based on her research into Salish basketry. Passing through patterns of cedar root\, the sun’s rays cast a warm protective glow\, or “safelight\,” on all the works in the gallery and the people coming to witness. Other works in the 10-year survey include “Only Available Light” (2016)\, which is being presented inside a purpose-built c7ískten̓ (kekuli or underground pit house)\, “Anthro(a)pologizing” (2018)\, “Vestige” (2022)\, and more. \nAdmission to The Polygon Gallery is by donation\, courtesy of BMO Financial Group.

SUMMARY:A Reading of the Play El Terremoto by Christine Quintana
DESCRIPTION:Touchstone Theatre and Neworld Theatre present a reading of Christine Quintana’s play El Terremoto (directed by Daniela Atiencia). Twenty years have passed since the three Jurado sisters lost their parents\, and life just seems to continue on in their East Vancouver home. \nA birthday party\, a failed proposal\, and a missed connection fill the days and months until an earthquake nearly destroys the city\, and brings forward a shocking turn of events that splits their world wide open.\nFrom Dora-Award winning playwright Christine Quintana\, El Terremoto is a dramatic comedy about how nothing matters\, so everything matters. \n— \nA reading of the full play by seven actors will be followed by a Q & A at the end of the evening with Christine and Lois Anderson\, Artistic Director at Touchstone Theatre. Join us for a delightful evening around the playwriting process and the Canadian theatre scene. \n— \nChristine Quintana was born in Los Angeles to a Mexican-American father and a Dutch-British-Canadian mother. Christine grew up as a grateful visitor to the unceded lands of the Musqueam\, Squamish\, and Tsleil-Waututh people. Christine is an actor\, playwright\, and co-Artistic Producer of Delinquent Theatre. In these various capacities\, she has worked with Tarragon Theatre\, the Arts Club Theatre Company\, Bard on the Beach\, The Cultch\, Neworld Theatre\, Electric Company Theatre\, Rumble Theatre\, Boca Del Lupo\, Zee Zee Theatre\, Caravan Farm Theatre\, Ruby Slippers Theatre\, Playwrights Theatre Centre\, Pi Theatre\, Gateway Theatre\, Nightswimming Theatre\, Belfry Theatre\, Stratford Festival\, and Young People’s Theatre. Her writing has been translated and performed in Spanish\, French\, ASL\, and German. \nDaniela Atiencia is the Artistic Associate at Touchstone Theatre and a Latinx-Canadian theatre artist born and raised in Colombia. She has a BFA in Theatre Performance from SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts and holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from The University of Essex’s East 15 Acting School. Daniela works as a freelance bilingual director\, dramaturg\, and deviser. She is currently working on two plays as co-director for Neworld and Green Thumb Theatre. As dramaturg she is collaborating with Tetsuro Shigematsu’s latest commissioned piece for Pacific Theatre and served as Spanish Language Dramaturg for Made in Canada\, an agricultural podcast for rice & beans theatre. She is currently based on the Unceded Territories of the Coast Salish peoples (Vancouver\, B.C.) and her work recently earned her a finalist spot in the RBC Rising Star Emerging Director award. \nLois Anderson is the Artistic Director of Touchstone Theatre\, and an Adjunct Professor at UBC in the Department of Theatre and Film. She won the Jessie Award for Best Direction (Pericles\, Bard on the Beach) and the 2019 Critic’s Choice Award for Innovation (Lysistrata). She has worked extensively in Canada and Australia and has been an artistic associate with The National Arts Centre most recently directing You Used to Call Me Marie by Tai Amy Grauman.

As co-founder and CEO of Rappler\, the top digital-only news site leading the fight for press freedom in the Philippines\, she has endured relentless political harassment under the Duterte government. In 2021\, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to safeguard freedom of expression. \nRessa’s most recent bestselling book\, How to Stand Up to a Dictator\, charts the global battle over digital truth and the future of democracies everywhere. SUMMARY:Pippin the Musical
DESCRIPTION:Step into a world of ‘spectacle and unease’ with Play On Words Productions’ gritty reimagining of Stephen Schwartz’ Pippin\, February 26th-March 7th at the Jericho Arts Centre \nSet inside a decaying nightclub suspended between life and death\, Pippin is the story of one young man’s search for the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of battle\, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power. Dark\, raw\, and reckless\, this production is a haunting exploration of purpose and desire\, leaving the audience to wonder: would they choose the fire\, or walk away? \nCONTENT ADVISORY: This show includes mature themes\, sexual suggestion\, dramatized violence\, and sensory elements (lighting and sound). We recommend only those who 13+ attend. Viewer discretion is advised.
