SUMMARY:Ethọ́s Lab: Black Futures Month Fundraiser + Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:Ethọ́s Lab launches its annual Black Futures Month fundraiser and the return of its flagship hackathon event for teens on Feb. 27. \nFamilies can experience the type of innovative programming Ethọ́s Lab offers at their weekly programs. Currently on offer is the Gaming Club\, which is sponsored by EA. But the popular hackathon is one teens won’t want to miss. Coming up on Feb. 27 at Microsoft Vancouver Campus (725 Granville St)\, this unique event has drawn more than 300 participants over the past three years — and registration is now open. \nThis year\, participants will dive into the world of artificial intelligence and\, using equity\, critical thinking and design\, will reimagine Hogan’s Alley. In order to participate\, youth must register for one of the Blackathon readiness workshops\, which will take place on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7. Ethọ́s Lab’s February programming will unfold alongside their expansion into a renovated space in its current Mount Pleasant building\, which will be celebrated with a spring break open house for the family from March 14. The expanded 2\,700-sq.-ft. hub will be shared with two community partners — Hogan’s Alley Society and UBC Geering Up — and marks the official start of the organization’s next phase as an innovation centre. More activations will be announced on the website at ethoslab.ca. \nDonate today at ethoslab.ca/donate.
