SUMMARY:The Polygon Gallery: Lee Miller: A Photographer at Work (1932–1945)
DESCRIPTION:The Polygon Gallery presents the West Coast premiere of Lee Miller: A Photographer at Work (1932–1945) from Nov. 7\, 2025–Feb. 1\, 2026. This survey exhibition showcases more than 100 images taken during the renowned American photographer’s most intense and productive period: from her time as a highly sought-after studio portraitist\, to a commercial photographer for cosmetics\, then her time as the World War II correspondent for the British edition of Vogue. Though Miller was previously best known for her collaboration with Man Ray and her close ties to the 1920s Surrealist movement\, the exhibition offers a richly layered\, complex portrait of this important artist and celebrated photojournalist. Lee Miller: A Photographer at Work (1932–1945) was organised in collaboration with the Lee Miller Archives (England)\, and was previously presented during Les Rencontres d’Arles (France) and at The Image Centre (Toronto). \nContent note: The exhibition features war photography\, including images Miller took of the liberation of the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps. \nAdmission to The Polygon Gallery is by donation\, courtesy of BMO Financial Group.

The collection of images reveal the behind-the-scenes dynamics of an artist managing a photography career amid the myriad challenges facing professional women at the time.
