SUMMARY:Puccini’s Electrifying Tosca
DESCRIPTION:A story of power\, passion\, and betrayal\, propelled by one of Puccini’s most emotionally charged scores\, Tosca delivers opera at its most thrilling. The story unfolds over a breathless 24 hours\, as celebrated singer Floria Tosca finds herself caught between the man she loves\, and a ruthless chief of police determined to possess her. Love\, jealousy\, artistic freedom\, corruption\, and personal sacrifice collide as Tosca is forced into an increasingly impossible confrontation with Scarpia. \n“Tosca is the fifth-most-performed opera in the world\, and we are thrilled to have this Puccini blockbuster return to our stage for the first time in 13 years\,” says Tom Wright\, Vancouver Opera General Director. “Working with Pacific Opera Victoria allows us to open our 67th season with a newly imagined production of a masterpiece by one of opera’s greatest composers. From its explosive opening chords to some of the most recognizable and emotionally powerful music in the operatic repertoire\, Tosca moves with the intensity of a political thriller.”

SUMMARY:OUROFEST 2025 | International Street Dance Festival
DESCRIPTION:OURO Collective is proud to announce the return of OUROFEST\, a five-day celebration of street dance performance\, music\, and culture\, running November 13–17\, 2025. Now in its second edition\, the festival brings together national and international artists\, plus artists and audiences from across the Metro Vancouver region for theatre performances\, workshops\, a late-night dance party\, and professional development workshops for dancers. \nWith a distinctly West Coast flavour\, OUROFEST creates space for global and local street-dance voices to meet on stage and in the studio\, and for audiences to witness and join in the celebration of this pivotal form. This year the festival showcases artists who are redefining how street dance can live in theatre\, workshops\, and community dialogue with events across Vancouver and New Westminster. \nAfter opening with a party (Nov 13)\, the festival will feature two nights of mainstage performances\, presented at and in partnership with Massey Theatre. Performances will highlight local talent and spotlight two internationally acclaimed guest artists. \nFriday (Nov 14) will feature Vasiliki Papapostolou\, aka TARANTISM (Greece/UK) with PANOPTICON\, an award-winning solo blending street dance\, ballroom Latin\, and physical theatre to embody the battle between ego\, superego\, and subconscious. Acclaimed internationally\, this work pulls you into a raw exploration of control\, chaos\, and the human condition. \nSaturday (Nov15) will feature RubberLegz (Germany/USA) with Vulcano\, an electrifying duet where partnership is forged through conflict and connection. Performed by Matt Luck and world-renowned B-Boy RubberLegz\, celebrated for his ability to contort his body into unthinkable shapes and for the groundbreaking style that earned him international acclaim\, this work is a charged exploration of power\, tension\, and transformation on stage. \nThe final two days of OUROFEST will include a series of masterclasses with TARANTISM and RubberLegz\, and professional development workshops for dancers. \nFestival Highlights\nThursday\, Nov 13 — Opening Social at KW Studios (SoulFunk Collective + exhibition battles) in Vancouver. \nFriday\, Nov 14 — Mainstage at Massey Theatre (New Westminster)\, featuring TARANTISM (Greece/UK)\, Cristina Bucci (Burnaby)\, and Joanne Park (Vancouver). \nSaturday\, Nov 15 — Mainstage at Massey Theatre\, featuring RubberLegz (Germany / LA) and Matt Luck (BC)\, Casual Gay Funk (Vancouver)\, and Lewen Han (Vancouver)\, followed by a dance party with DJ Ice B at The Massey. \nSunday\, Nov 16 — Masterclasses at Q7 Studios with RubberLegz and TARANTISM\, followed by a Q&A with both artists. \nMonday\, Nov 17 — A professional development workshops for dancers on administration\, finance\, and nutrition. \nOUROFEST is presented with generous partnership from Massey Theatre\, and receives support from The Canada Council for the Arts\, BC Arts Council\, Metro Vancouver\, and The City of Vancouver. \nLearn more and buy tickets: https://show.ourocollective.com/ourofest-1/
