SUMMARY:Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor: End Times Fascism and The Fight for the Living World
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an essential conversation with Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor as they discuss their forthcoming book\, END TIMES FASCISM – And the Fight for the Living World. \nAcross politics\, technology\, and culture\, a powerful narrative is taking hold: that ecological collapse\, social breakdown\, and mass instability are inevitable. Klein and Taylor examine how this fatalism is shaping a worldview in which elites prepare for survival while abandoning collective responsibility. From fortified enclaves to fantasies of off-world escape\, they trace how fear of the future is being harnessed to justify inequality\, exclusion\, and authoritarianism. \nBut this apocalyptic thinking\, despite tech-bro billionaire and Christian fundamentalist insistence\, can be rejected. Klein and Taylor offer a sharp and necessary framework for understanding this moment and how to fight it. With clarity and urgency\, they challenge us to deny the pervasive belief in impending doom\, defend human dignity\, and imagine futures rooted in collective care\, solidarity\, and hope that change is possible. \nNaomi Klein is an award-winning journalist\, bestselling author of Doppelganger\, No Logo\, and The Shock Doctrine. At the University of British Columbia\, she is founding Co-Director of the Centre for Climate Justice and Associate Professor in the Department of Geography. \nAstra Taylor is an award-winning writer\, activist\, and documentarian\, and a cofounder of the Debt Collective. She is the author of The People’s Platform\, which won the American Book Award; Democracy May Not Exist\, but We’ll Miss It When It’s Gone; and The Age of Insecurity. \nCo-presented with the UBC Centre for Climate Justice and Knopf Canada

SUMMARY:Palace
DESCRIPTION:Palace have been making music together for over a decade. What started out as carefree jam sessions between Leo Wyndham\, Rupert Turner and Matt Hodges in an airless studio in North London established a DIY ethos that remains intrinsic to the spirit of the band to this day. \nIn early 2025\, Palace took a career leap releasing the Greyhound EP on their own label\, Palace Presents – a collective they’d started in 2016 as a monthly night at The George Tavern in East London\, which had quietly grown into something more intentional. A positive and protected space as Leo described it\, away from the usual constraints of the music industry. \n“Kid” was released in April 2026\, together with the announcement of a 30-date tour of the USA and Canada in the Fall of 2026\, culminating in a show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. \n“Kid is about longing for a child an ocean away. It’s the ache we feel for our people when we’re separated from them. It doesn’t feel like a sadness or heaviness\, but more an affirmation of that love\, a primal release sung into the sunset as the road flies by.” \nJoin us for Palace’s Chan Centre debut and experience their immersive sound brought to life on our stage.
