Writers for Readers: Donna Seto

In this book talk, Donna will reflect on why she wrote the book, her personal connections with Vancouver’s Chinatown, and the stories that inspired her work.

Chinatown Vancouver: An Illustrated History (House of Anansi, 2025) is Donna Seto’s tribute to the neighbourhood and to the perseverance of Chinese Canadians whose stories have shaped her understanding of her own identity as a Canadian of Chinese heritage. Her book contains seventy vibrant illustrations, writeups on the buildings, interviews with community members, and select archival photographs, and celebrates the invaluable contributions of the Chinese to Canada.
