Signals Exhibition at VIFF

Signals Creative Technology Expo 2024, presented by DigiBC and VIFF, will highlight innovative storytelling in video games, XR, virtual production, and AI. Running from September 27th to October 6th, it explores themes tied to the global socio-political climate, celebrating Canadian and Indigenous cultural and technological advancements.

Some highly anticipated exhibits for 2024 include:
“k̓aʕntəm iʔ st̓xałq – prayer for huckleberry” a work by Syilx Nation artist and filmmaker Tracey Kim Bonneau. This interactive & immersive video installation allows visitors to virtually pick huckleberries, interacting to learn nsyilxcən words.

Yourself As Point Of Reflection by Trevor Twells, a meditation on identity, race, confrontation and transformation, where audiences engage in delayed video conversation with themselves.

Protopica by Will Selviz and Manuel Sainsily, an interactive adventure that begins by putting on an EEG headset and immersing yourself in a world of pulsating brain wave visualizations. This mesmerizing display seamlessly transitions into an interactive movie experience that explores each person’s unique understanding of “home”.
