The Firehall Arts Centre presents Hideki Noda’s Red Demon, October 8–18, 2026, directed by Mayumi Yoshida and produced by rice & beans theatre and Gokko Creative Society. This darkly funny, thought-provoking play follows a mysterious outsider who washes ashore and is feared by a community unable to understand him. With villagers speaking Japanese and the Red Demon speaking Spanish, the production explores immigration, belonging, prejudice, and the possibilities of connection across languages and cultures.
