Our Journey Continues: 100 Years After the Chinese Immigration Act

On June 29th, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre will open “Our Journey Continues: 100 Years After the Chinese Immigration Act”, a new special exhibit dedicated to honouring the multigenerational families who pursued their dreams and turned grievances into success.

The exhibit shares the lesser-known stories of families with ancestors who lived through the period of exclusion (1923-1947) and the living descendants making their mark in diverse professions. In selecting the stories, the CSC spotlights ordinary people who are making an important impact in our community today, including teachers, doctors, athletes, artists, and community organizers. The majority of the families have a connection to Vancouver’s Chinatown, the vibrant intersection point of their extraordinary stories reflecting diverse occupations and backgrounds.
