Indian Summer Festival

The Indian Summer Festival runs July 7 to 17, and will feature the world’s most powerful thinkers on climate change and social justice, a 2022 Grammy Award-winning musician, a boundary-pushing dance performance, a science-meets-art experience that brings you music from mushrooms, doctors and healers forging new pathways in the complex art of healing, award-winning filmmakers, sitar maestros, tabla wizards, brass bands, human-animal hip hop collaborations, outdoor art installations, Indigenous and South Asian DJs reclaiming their languages while making new ones.

ISF2022 events will be centered around the new Festival Hub, Performance Works on Granville Island, reclaiming South Asian presence in the Sen̓áḵw area on which the island now stands. It was once the heart of Vancouver’s South Asian community, before the gentrification and displacement of South Asian people from this area of the city. We are so excited to announce that this year, our distilled, powerful lineup will speak to the theme of ‘Inner/Outer Climates’.

Some of our deepest concerns today relate to the crisis of climate change. We are also, increasingly, seeing an awareness of the planet that is every human body. We address this with the rigor, curiosity and enthusiasm that has always marked ISF.

There will be food for thought and for the stomach, celebration and provocation. We’re honoured to present a galaxy of artists who lead us to examine and dream new ways of living our lives, and to healing our inner and outer climates.
